Danum Valley - An Introduction:
Danum Valley is one of Borneo’s most precious jewels. Located in the east of Sabah, around 80km from the town of Lahad Datu, the area comprises 438 square kilometres of pristine rainforest and is also the base of Danum Valley Field Centre that’s home to a number of scientists undertaking research and conservation activities.

Day 1 – Arrival Lahad Datu / Danum Valley (Meals: Lunch & Dinner)
(Guests are recommended to take flight MH3012 BKI STD: 0720HRS / LDU STA: 0815HRS)
9:00 a.m. Pick-Up from airport or hotel upon arrival.
9:30 a.m. Registration & Check-In at Danum Valley Studies/Field Centre (DVFC) / Reception - n.b. Office adjacent to Lahad Datu Airport at Fajar Centre
Transfer from DVFC Office to Danum Valley will take approximately 3 hours per way on a gravel road
12:30 p.m. Arrival at DVCA and welcoming briefing at the Reception counter
1:00 p.m. Lunch at the Lodge
3:30 p.m. Guided evening walk around the vicinity in search of wildlife
5:00 p.m. Tea break at Dining Hall or own leisure time
7:00 p.m. Dinner in Dining Hall
8:00 p.m. Night Drive in search of nocturnal wildlife

Day 2 Danum Valley (Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch & Dinner)
5:00 a.m. Morning walk around the vicinity
7:00 a.m. Breakfast in Dining Hall
8:30 a.m. Trekking to Tembaling Waterfall 6 km 2 hours from Centre) - return trip 4 hours (Visitor may visit the Tongkat Ali on the way to Tembaling Waterfall) - Packed Lunch
12:30 p.m. Arrival at Centre and rest
3:30 p.m. Guided trekking to Nature Trail & Orchid Trail
7:00 p.m. Dinner in Dining Hall
8:00 p.m. Night Walk in search of nocturnal wildlife around the vicinity (Add on Optional/Subject to availability)

Day 3 Danum Valley (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
5:00 a.m. Morning sunrise sighting at the Observation Tower (About 30 mins drive from DVFC)
7:00 a.m. Breakfast in Dining Hall
8:30 a.m. Walk to Rhino Pool (Full Loop 4 hours trekking)
12:30 p.m. Lunch at Dining Hall
2:30 p.m. Visit to Old Burial Site/Coffin Trail (1.7KM @ 1 hour from Centre) (Return trip 2 hours)
7:00 p.m. Dinner in Dining Hall
8:00 p.m. Night Walk in search of nocturnal wildlife around the vicinity (max. 1 hour)

Day 4 Danum Valley / Departure Lahad Datu (Meal: Breakfast)

The Danum Valley guide/ranger will have to determine your fitness level before engaging you on a long hike
Cell phone coverage is available. However, it can sometimes be disrupted due to rain downpour and satellite malfunction
Electricity is only available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
